The high population density is actually an issue in regards of high-speed rail: all the people living in between two stops also want to be connected, so the ICE trains stop more frequently and are therefore slower.Īlso NIMBY is a big issue in Germany. Some of those local trains are just incredibly slow. Also the Czech Republic has one of the densest railway networks in the world, almost all towns have a train station there.
